Imagesinwords, even that has a celestial ring to it. I was going to start out by saying how wonderful a person she is, but those that know her already know this and if you don’t know of her I suggest you familiarise yourself with her journal. Unfortunately for me I don’t know Heidi personally so I speak by what I see in her journal and the actions she takes on behalf of VR. An outstanding lady full of integrity. An aspiration ... omg, I will stop, I said I wasn’t going to do that.
Her latest entry was what I really wanted to mention, it reminded me of a story that I heard concerning the Jewish faith, but to quote Heidi:
‘’And if you're trying to be the best person
you can be in this world, then we're travelling
the same road- even if your faith is of another
name''.
As you know the Jewish faith bases its tenets on the Old Testament. This story tells of two wealthy Jewish business men living in modern day New York. New York just happens to also be the home of a very old Lubavitch rabbi, a very holy and wise man ... so much so that even the past and present Presidents have come to him for advice. It was believed by many that this rabbi could see right into your soul just by looking at you. He’d have a field day with me, but anyway.........
The two men were out walking in their lunch hour when they noticed a very long queue forming outside a building. Most in the queue were Chassids (orthodox Jews). Further investigation told them that it was a day in which this rabbi opens his doors to anyone who has a question for him. They decided they would have some fun and joined the queue.
Let me explain here that most religious Jews won’t work on the Sabbath as it is said that the Sabbath should be a day of worship and your thoughts should be pure, and the Sabbath is a Saturday.
They decided the question that they would ask would be, ‘’how are we suppose to be (as business men) good contentious Jews in this day and age where good business bustles all day on a Saturday?’’
One of the rabbi’s ‘staff’ noticed them in the queue and approached them as they looked out of place among this congregation. They explained that they wanted to see the rabbi. After speaking with the rabbi the staff member returned and pulled them out the queue and lead them to the front, they looked at each other in that knowing way that was to say that the rabbi would expect a large donation for this deed.
They stood in front of The Rabbi and before they could speak it was explained to them that they were taken to the front of the queue because He knew that time meant money to them. The Rabbi went on to say that he knew why they were there and astonished them by reciting their question.
He said to them.........
‘’if you want to sell something, how much profit do you look to make?’’
‘’100%’’ they both retorted.
‘’But, what if you only make 10% profit, what would you do?’’
‘’We would take it’’ they said ‘’it’s still good money’’
‘’and the next day how much profit would you look to make’’
Again they answered ‘’100%’’
‘’but what if you only make 5% profit?’’
And again they said they would take it.
The Rabbi then said to them, ‘’Judaism is the same. Every day we try to look for 100% but if we fail, at least we are still in profit. This is how you become good Jews in this day and age’’
It really doesn’t matter what faith you are or even if you have no faith, what matters is that we all have the intention to do good and that we stay in profit.

Wow, and it's not even my birthday! :P
That was a good little story there, Bloodlife. Then again, I have always leaned towards the old Jewish side anyway, ha. After all, Jesus wasn't a Christian :)
Wise words.
I found myself in Devon over the weekend in a tiny village called Martinhoe; if you would have blinked you would have passed through it.
We came across a very old parish church dated way back to the eleventh century.
I spoke to the caretaker and he opened up the place for us, I was stunned to see some of the beauty that lay within.
We had the whole place to ourselves!!
I couldn’t resist being what could possibly be the first Jew to stand on the pulpit.
‘’all things bright and .....’’
I was fascinated to see how the names of the early rectors had French names, obviously from when the Normans conquered.
I found this poem written on a scroll...
Even through this poem you get a true sense of history with the reference to the old Roman settlements which so totally out date the Normans.
Not only was the inside a great source of knowledge but take a looky at what I turned up in the grounds...
This was a head stone dedicated to the Ridd family, anyone that has read Lorna Doone will know about them.
A truly great day was had; I could keep going back to these old counties and just loose myself.
Thank you Martinhoe for your peace and serenity.
